Jacob Cuda, is in his senior year at the University of North Dakota. Jacob is pursuing a degree in Commercial Aviation and Aviation Management. Originally from Brownsville, MN. His passion for aviation began at an early age when he flew a float plane in Canada with his parents. Jacob began flying when he was in high school and got his private pilot license before beginning flying in North Dakota. This is Jacob’s third year in SAMA, in addition to his involvement in SAMA he is the Resident Assistant on the Aviation Living and Learning Community. In this environment he coordinates aviation events for his floor and helps develop freshman on their way to becoming aviation professionals. Outside of college Jacob is a member of the Minnesota National Guard. In his spare time he enjoys traveling to National Parks, fishing, and spending time with friends.
Jack Steine, a senior from Minnesota, serves as the vice president for SAMA. He has been involved in SAMA for the past two years, and is also a CFI at UND.
Matthew Frenette is the Travel Director for SAMA. He is from Denver, Colorado and is currently a junior at the University of North Dakota majoring in Air Traffic Control and specializing in Aviation Safety. For this year’s fall trip, he planned a four day trip to Denver, Colorado to tour its aviation attractions, like Denver International Airport, Denver TRACON, and the United Airlines Training Center and to also have fun around the city. Matthew has also helped SAMA by being a speaker host last year for the conference and saw this as a good opportunity to get further involved in SAMA. This is his first time holding an officer position in SAMA and is looking forward to watch this professional organization continue to grow.
Evan Rys is a sophomore from New Jersey. His passion for flying and weather has led him to double major in commercial aviation, and atmospheric sciences. He looks forward to storm chasing in the summer and will hopefully be a part of North Dakota’s weather modification program.
Wade Baltazar is a sophomore and has planned this year’s annual fall trip. The group spent the weekend in Dallas Texas, touring American Airlines’ operations. He has also been instrumental in planning the SAMA social for our members.
Andrew Rossi is a junior from Lincoln University Pennsylvania. There he began flying fixed wing aircraft in high school and soon received his private pilot license. Since the beginning of his interest in aviation, Andrew has been fascinated by helicopters. He chose UND to pursue his passion for helicopters and is currently working on his helicopter instrument rating. He looks forward to the variety of career fields within the helicopter industry. As an avid photographer Andrew hopes to utilize his abilities in media production and graphic design to promote the Student Aviation Management Association.
Michael Fortuna, is a senior majoring in Aviation Management and is the Co-Career Fair Director for SAMA. Originally from St. Paul, MN he has always wanted to fly. Instead of asking for gifts for his 17th birthday, he asked for a discovery flight. Since that day aviation has been his passion. When he is not in class or flight instructing he enjoys spending time with friends and exploring new cities. As his first position in SAMA he is excited to help plan and organize the Student Aviation Management Association Career Fair.
Declan Hoffman is a sophomore from North Carolina. As the Co-Career Fair Director, Declan organizes everything associated with the Career Fair at the airport. From getting static displays form companies, to organizing the space for the Career Fair, Declan handles it.
Joe is a Junior at the University of North Dakota originally from Midland, Michigan pursuing a degree in Aviation Management. Joe has been interested in flying ever since he went to the National Air Force Museum in Dayton, OH as a young boy. Joe had his first flight the day after his 16th birthday at his hometown airport and will never forget the incredible feeling that flight gave him. Other than flying Joe likes to play hockey, hiking, and just hanging with his friends. He’s currently working towards his instrument, commercial, and multi-engine licenses. He is also the 2017 SAMA Career Fair Director, and a member of Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity. Joe is excited to be involved with Student Aviation Management Association Career Fair Director.
Sydni is currently a junior at UND and is from Ogden, Utah. She is working on attaining both her Commercial Aviation and Flight Education degree. This is Sydni's first year as a SAMA officer and this year she is the Co-Conference Director. Sydni is also involved in the Student Aviation Advisory Council and the Experimental Aircraft Association on campus. Sydni is very excited to make an impact at UND and leave a positive impact. She is eager to develop her professional career here at UND and prepare for her life as a professional pilot.
Kevin is a Junior at UND from West Linn, Oregon. He is studying Commercial Aviation and Aviation Management. This is Kevin’s first year as a SAMA officer and he is excited to continue promoting SAMA to UND students. He had the opportunity to fly a Piper Warrior in 6th grade and has been fixed on aviation since. Kevin has earned his flight instructor certificate over the past summer and is a CFI instructing students here at UND. In his spare time, Kevin enjoys staying active with fishing, intramural sports, and in his fraternity, Sigma Phi Epsilon. Kevin aims to work for a commercial airline after graduation.
